action item sub-tasks

The usefulness of action items for actually tracking open issues of any complexity would be vastly improved with the implementation of sub-items under main action items.  Currently, in order to keep any sense of order when tracking multiple issues, I have to resort to very careful self-imposed naming conventions for the subject line;  there’s no chance of getting that to stick if I try to encourage other people on a project to also use action items.

The idea would be to allow action items to be created as sub-action items, or easily promoted/demoted under other action items.  The resulting trees should be expandable direclty in the the action item list (NOT opening as a ‘new’ list, like document set sub-folders do!).

The best example of sub-task implementation I’ve ever found is the free ToDoList software, at http://www.abstractspoon.com/tdl_resources.html.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for posting your feature request and sending along the example. I have logged your request.  One thing you can do to assist in the organizing is add keywords to the action items then use the keyword field to sort the action items.
