It is good to see the development of the RFI process that works with the Submittals process.  It would be GREAT to complete this effort and complete the loop on all the typical industry standard methods for changing the scope of work (and related drawings, tasks, sketches, communications, etc…).

For example the following methodologies need to be added:

1.  Addenda
2.  Change Requests (or Proposal Requests)
3.  Change Orders
4.  Clarifications (or Architects Supplemental Instructions)
5.  Field Orders (directed changes without agreement on cost or schedule)

All of the above are industry standard ways of modifying the scope and related drawings and specifications beyond the RFI process.  The underlying flow of information and issue tracking is remarkably similar to both submittals and RFI’s.  It would be phenomenal to have the same tracking, addressing and tasking flow as the submittal and RFI process added to Newforma.

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion.  Completing the CA process in Newforma Project Center is definately on the radar screen.  I will keep this list for the +Featues as we start to scope out this new work. Would your company be intersted in providing design input as we develop these new featues?

We are currently putting ASIs and Sk’s under the RFI activity center.

We are also putting Change Orders and Price Requests in the submittal activity center. It works pretty good. For items dealing with money we reuse fields such as spec section and put a dollar amount in there since there is not a generic blank field that would allow you to put in whatever you wanted.

Yes it would be nice if these items were separated out on their own.

Our CA folks are also asking why these are not part of Newforma.

Hi Barry,

The additional CA functionality is very much on our radar screen - stay tuned! We have been working on designs for these activity centers and are going through the validation process. The suggestions above are work arounds that customers are using until that time that we get the actual activity centers in the product.
