Is there a way to post “issues” on the Newforma Server while they are “open” so that an “External” team member is able to see the associated information.  When issues are closed they can be archived in the “Project Server”.

We assign issues to External” team members a lot, however, their complaint is they do not have access to the “Supporting Documents”.  When using the link provided in the Issue E-mail they receive an error.

Hello,

In the 5th edition release, the Issues will show up on Info Exchnage (we have also changed the name from Issues to Action Items). External users will be able to see the status of action items that they have been listed on and send email to the internal team member that assigned the action item. At this time, we don’t have support to display supporting documents. Is it important for external team members to see all supporting documents for an assigned action item?

Action Items may require input from multiple external team members (consultants) at the same time (It would be nice to be able to assign an Action item to more than one individual).  When one external team member provides input (typically by e-mail) on the Action item, it gets logged as a supporting document.  Other external team members may benefit from replies already provided by other external team members.

It also happens we reassign an action item based on a team member’s reply.  it that case, the new team member assigned the action will probably benefit from the supporting documents.

I’ve been puzzled about this myself.  How can “issues” or “action items” be resolved if External team members don’t have the same level of access to supporting documents that the Internal team has?  How are you working around this? (since a fix isn’t here ‘til v.5)

i agree… there are many times that you want to assign an issue that can only be resolved if two external consultants decide something between themselves.

You all just disappointed one of our principals… Of course it is important for external team members to see related files. I would also suggest that external team members be able to close resolved action items. External team members should be able to have all the same funtionality that internal members have, consultants are just as much part of the team as our own internal team members.
