Hi Mark,

You should exclude the N4P and N4R shares from any active scan or backup processes on the Newforma Project Center Server! These data are stored as a result of our indexing and are frequently in transition; they can also be rebuilt if needed so there’s no reason to back them up either.

Hope this helps!

I’ve noticed a significant slowdown in our tape backups via Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 since implementation of NPC.  Specifically, when it hits the N4P and N4R areas, which seem to be populated with tens of thousands of small files (that is, it lists as about 30Mb of data taking up over 800Mb of diskspace) performance viturally dies.  So, what is the best practice with respect to this - skip these directories, or back them up via other means (e.g. disk to disk)?  Any suggestions appreciated! TIA, Mark
