Jim,

Thanks for the reply.

It turns out that it was my fault, because the project folder’s new location is within a read-only folder for all but administrators. That’s why Newforma was unable to correct the pathing to the project.

Once I gave Newforma the appropriate rights to the share, double-clicking on the project’s NPR file allowed the NPC server to correct the project path, and it once again appeared in our NPC project list.

Thanks to support, and everyone else, for helping me discover my error. That’s what subscriptions are for, right smile

Andrew,

I just double-checked with Fifth Edition and the steps Dave Dark’s outlined below are correct. However, you may need to restart the Newforma Project Center Server CatalogManager and ProjectCenter services, then try clicking the .NPR file again. This should add the new location scope into the indexing service and get the project back into the list of available projects so you can repair the folder references as Dave outlines below.

Hope this helps!

Dave, thanks for the reply.

According to your message, I should…
1. Double click the project NPR file.
2. Close NPC after it opens.
3. Double click the project NPR file again “to add the project back to the ‘All Projects’ list”.

I can interpret the quoted portion of step 3 in one of two ways:

“By double clicking the project NPR file a 2nd time, NPC will automatically add the project to the ‘All Projects’ list.”
- OR -
“Double click the project NPR file so that you can ‘perform an action’ (not specified) within NPC that will add the project back to the ‘All Projects’ list.”

I think you mean the first, simpler option. If so, this is what I get after double-clicking the NPR file a second time (and a third, and a fourth, etc.):

“This project cannot be opened because its path has changed. Project Center will fix the project to use the new path (if the Project Center Server is available). Fixing the project will take a few minutes. Try opening the project again later.”

I’ve waited hours, and when I scan the NPC project list, the project is not there. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks, again for your help.

Double-click the *.NPR file to fix the project so that Newforma understands that the project has been moved.  After the Newforma Project Center loads, close Newforma.  Double-click the *.NPR file again to add the project back to the ‘All Projects’ list.

Once the project is loaded back into the list, open the project to the Project Home activity.  From the task pane, click “Edit Project Settings”.  On step 2 of 8, select the project folder and select “Repair Broken Link” to update the main project folder to the new project location.

Once this process is complete, the emails can once again be filed by Newforma.

Regards,

-Dave Dark

We are using NPC 5.0 with Outlook 2003.

A project folder was moved to another drive, including its Newforma data.  The NPC project is no longer listed in the NPC project list; it was most likely removed/deleted from within NPC project administration.  Now we need to file more emails to the project folder, and we’d like to use Newforma to do it.  We want to keep the project folder in it’s new/current location.  We don’t care so much about resynching RFIs, Transmittals, etc., we just want to have the project listed in the NPC project list in order to file more emails.

Since the project folder in the new drive still has the Newforma data, what is the best way to go about this?
