Here’s my problem:

I leave the office, and I get a message from a fellow employee who needs an image right now for an interview. I know where it is. It’s in an e-mail. If I was at my laptop, I could easily search Newforma and forward the e-mail containing the image. But, I’m not in the office. I’m stuck in Columbus, OH at the airport because my flight is cancelled. But wait! I have my iPhone! I can see the Newforma folders in my inbox—I can even drag e-mails into those folders—but, I can’t ACCESS those folders. ARRRGH! If only I could search, find and forward that e-mail along to person asking for it!

Now fast-forward back home, I talk to my IT guy about my issue. He says with this new version 7 can access Newforma through a web browser and put that e-mail back into my inbox. Now, I’m thinking if you guys can do that, I KNOW you can make an APP for the iPhone! Where I’m sitting right now typing this post there are 24 iPhones within a 50-foot radius. I sure the same is true at office across the nation.

iPHONE APP PLEASE!

Although I could care less about iPhones, this is a good point about remote access for Newforma functions like this. I have found myself in similar positions where I couldn’t access remotely what I needed in Newforma.

Glad to hear that Version 7 will have web enabled access. Can’t your iPhone browse the web? BTW, Windoze and Blackberry are the majority of mobile devices in corporate by far. But as long as we are wishing for apps, one for my Android too?

Are we just throwing VPN out the window or what?

I’m not sure I’m understanding this request for a web-based Newforma. Sure, web apps can be lightweight, but they typically behave and function like a lightweight too.  downer
I’m also pretty sure I will never have any web app with the functionality of the Newforma Client open to the internet.

+ 1 to Android and iPhone apps.
Blackberry?  Please, RIM is sooo 20th Century.  raspberry
