Hi Gang,

I just came upon a “ghost” email address in NPC. When I create a new transmittal I can set the From field to a user “Bob” that shows up with Bob’s proper email address, but on the final transmittal his company name and address information don’t display at all.

The fix for this seems straight forward enough. I checked for “Bob” on the project team, and he isn’t listed there. Ok. I checked the NPC Contacts for “Bob” and he’s not listed there either. Oddly enough, “Robert” (Bob’s legal name) is listed, and with Bob’s email address and physical address and company info to boot. So when I go back into the previously created transmittal and try to change “Bob” to “Robert” I get nothing. No names display as options. Where is “Bob” coming from!? (Incidentally, if I add “Robert” to the project team, “Bob” goes away as an option and only “Robert” will show.)

What I’d like to do is get rid of the “Bob” entry altogether and just use “Robert”. Has anyone else run into this issue, and is there any way to correct it?

Thanks

-Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Is it possible that Bob’s email address is coming from the user’s Outlook contact list?

Hi Marge,

I’m not sure precisely where its coming from, but I don’t have an entry in my Outlook for the “Bob” it’s pulling up. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

-Thomas

The other thought that comes to mind is if there a chance this person’s email address was changed.  This might be easier to troubleshoot if you contacted support for them to walk through it with you.

As a followup, the “Ghost Addresses” were coming from Outlook’s magic drop-down list of addresses that appears when you begin typing and address in an email. Removing the entries from that list is as easy as selecting it when it shows up and pressing delete.

Thanks to support for making me aware that Newforma reads that list!

Cheers,
