I opened it up and the response that I had typed previously before the crash was saved and still in the suggestion box.  I then clicked on the cancel button.

Were Outlook and Project Center reinstalled after the OS upgrade from Vista to Win7?  If not, it sounds like that would be a good next step to pursue based on the errors you’re reporting.

Or, seeing as there is mention of the redemption.dll being an issue, perhaps just a manual re-registering of that DLL will clear the issues.  There is a batch file to do this located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Newforma\Sixth Edition\Project Center\Registry\Register Redemption.bat

I’ve been using Win7 + Outlook 2007 + Project Center 6.1 full time now for just over 3 weeks and have not seen any issues.  However, this is on a clean installation of OS and all programs.

The purpose of installing over an existing setup was also to test MS assertion of “easy” migration from Vista (as opposed to XP), as we have been slowly deploying it for some systems. If however I have to reinstall a bunch of stuff, that sort of eliminates a lot of the benefit....But since MS has been touting this, I suspect some customers will plan on doing it and vendors should be aware of the results

I was about to check out redemption as we post. Thanks.

Later....

And the bat file to reregister redemption seems to fix the problems

I’m still having the same issue I mentioned earlier in the thread with file items button in outlook not working - the bar briefly appears in but nothing happens. This is outlook 2007 running against exchange 2003; Win 7 enterprise 6.1. build 7600 installed over Vista X64 enterprise

Other outlook features mostly work except send and file in project gives this error in a big dialog (OCR’d from screen cap so might be a bit off)

There was a problem picking an Outlook folder: Unable to cast COM
object of type ‘Redemption.ROOSessionClass’ to interface type
‘Redemption.lROOSession’. This operation failed because the
Querylnterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID
‘{E54CSl68-AASC-40SF-9C14-A4037302BD90}’ failed due to the
following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESUL T:
Ox80004002 (E_NOiNTERFACE)).

Then the NPC dialog for filing, then this
There was a problem adding information to the Outlook item so that it
will be filed after it is sent: Error qettinq the Send and File properties:
Error in _HrGetiDsFromNames - IMAPIProp = = NULL Check to see if
the message was filed after sending, and if not, file the message from
the Sent Items folder.

Another message did not capture, then still want to send?

Our internal testing has also confirmed that the crashes reported earlier in this thread are fixed with the RTM version of Windows 7 (Version 6.1.7600.0).  We have uncovered two other minor issues:

(1) After installation, Windows 7 warns that the Newforma Deskbar isn’t compatible.  It turns out that the deskbar works just fine, but isn’t enabled automatically as a result of the warning.  You can enable it by right-clicking on the deskbar and choosing the toolbars menu or by responding “yes” to the warning dialog shown in the attachments.

(2) The My Newforma Projects folder may not appear in Windows 7.  If it doesn’t, the attached .reg file will repair the problem.

UPDATE from initial testing, now with Win7 RTM installation:

I am unable to reproduce any of the previous crashes I was seeing with Win7 RC while running with a newly acquired Win7 RTM installation.  I will continue to work with this and see if I can find anything else that isn’t working, but initial impressions are good.

Another data point for the action item crashes.  The problem is also present when opening an action item from within Outlook via the Newforma Outlook Add-in toolbar on a message that’s flagged with the appropriate action item and project codes.

Also, since opening an action item in this manner works within the Outlook process, the crash takes Outlook down with it.

I can confirm NPC crashing on Win7 64-bit when working with Action Items here.  Closing an action item seems to reliably trigger a crash.

I did not notice any problems with the Outlook “File Items” add-in and related folder synchronization.  That is seemingly working properly.

We’ve noticed the same issue with action items crashing NPC on Win 7 Enterprise 32-bit. There is also an issue with the Outlook plugin, which is logged in the event log, but doesn’t seem to impact functionality as far as we have noticed thus far.

Other than that, NPC seems stable on Win 7.

i’m running windows 7 Enterprise RTM X64. I just updated the client & server to 6.1.1.3202. FIle items does not work in Outlook 2007/Exchange 2003 to file emails or add project folders. It will file mail in the background.

When do you plan to support Win 7? It hasn’t exactly been a secret…

I also am testing on Windows 7 x64. Today I recieved an RFI.  I opened the RFI (it was not assigned to me) and typed a suggestion.  I clicked “save changes.” When I did newforma crashed and gave me the bug splat screen.  I opened Newforma back up and went to the same RFI.  I opened it up and the response that I had typed previously before the crash was saved and still in the suggestion box.  I then clicked on the cancel button and it crashed again.

I found two BugSplat reports from you Scott, they were both the exact same problem.  I think we’ve got what we need for now.

Dave, Do you want me to send the Action Item crash one your way, or was this the same thing?

The BugSplat report indicates that Windows code is crashing trying to draw scroll bars.  I’m afraid this doesn’t help us much by itself.  We will look at this for the next release!
