Has anyone specified using Newforma for RFIs and submittals in the their Specications/Project Manuals? If so do you have a reference?

Lisa,

While I can’t post anything - we have incorporated the electronic submittal requirement into our front end specifications. We are working on the language for RFI’s as we are now doing his on a voluntary basis - which is how we started out with submittals. We now require 1 hard copy with the electronic submittal, and we identify clearly and make the contractor responsible for the printing of completed (reviewed, stamped, and returned) submittals for the owner or review agency if applicable.

The increased turn-around times have eliminated all of the early complaints of the contractors.

We also have a standardized form we use for the contractors (or other external team members) to sign AND SUBMIT where we collect the info required to create their account. It also includes our standardized legal disclaimer that usually appears on the drawings.

I hope this helps…..

The newest version of MasterSpec includes in “Submittal Procedures” and “Requests for Information” a method to specify electronic submittals and RFIs.
