I just had a report from a user that a shortcut key is not working as expected in text input boxes within the Project Center client.  Here’s a brief description of the behavior:

- In Microsoft Word, hitting “ctrl-delete” deletes text to the end of the current word
- In Microsoft Notepad, hitting “ctrl-delete” deletes text to the end of the current line
- In the Project Center client, hitting “ctrl-delete” deletes text to the end of the current line

The workaround that I’ve recommended is to hit “ctrl-shift-rightarrow” to select to the end of the current word and then hit the “delete” key after it is selected.  Obviously, that’s not quite as convenient.

Seeing as the text boxes are already using MS Word for their spell checking functionality, is it possible to more closely match shortcut key behavior to MS Word instead of Notepad?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

The behavior you are seeing is the default behavior for the Windows text box control, which as you point out is the same behavior as Notepad. In 6th edition, we are adding support for RTF text boxes for large text entry fields (remarks, comments, etc) - these follow the same behavior as Word.

That’s excellent news!  Looking forward to that.
Thanks,
