Control of date format

Can a feature be added to Newforma which would allow us to control the date format used?  It would be nice if this could be controlled on a project by project basis.  We currently allow two formats:  US (MM-DD-YY) and International (YYYY-MM-DD).  I am sure other offices use even different formats.

We would like the format selected to be consistent between published documents from Newforma (Such as Transmittals, RFI’s, Submittals) and saved e-mails from Outlook.

Thanks!

Great feedback.  It is helpful to know that this setting would need to be on a per project basis.  Thank you for the response! Looking forward to hearing about needs for this from other users.

I assume this can be changed in the Newforma Templates at this time (somewhat cumbersome way to modify the format), but not the e-mail saving format.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is no support for setting the date format in project templates at this time.  I am logging this as a +Feature though.

Have there been any enhancements in this area with Seventh Edition, specifically in Info Exchange?

Thanks in advance,
-Danny

Hi Danny,

This request remains a +Feature at this time.  This is certainly something we would consider as part internationalization for the product in a future release.  You mentioned having this support specifically in Info Exchange.  It would be great if you could elaborate on your use case and need for the date format.

Thank you,

Marge Hart

Yes, the Transfers screen shows two dates, “Sent” and “Expiration.”  Both should support internationalization (per project setting), but they’re not even consistent with each other.  See attachment.  If they don’t support internationalization, at least use a format such as 07 JUN 2010.  Even though it’s English, it would work in both the US and UK.  Our London office made this request.
