Blurry dashed line in PDF output from markup

One of our users is trying to make a PDF of a markup session that includes a thick, red, dashed line in it.  The line looks very clear in the markup session, but when it is exported to PDF format, it becomes blurry and barely recognizable as a dashed line.  See screenshot attached - left side is as the shows in the viewer; right side is from the PDF file.

NOTE: Pixelation in attachment is due to forced resize to accommodate the max resolution allowed for attachments.  Full size screenshot available at https://infoexchange.aeieng.com/blurry-dashed-line_large.png

Is there a way to correct this and preserve the line resolution in the PDF output?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
I was able to reproduce this behavior. The problem is caused by the rounded line caps. I’m not sure why the round cap style is getting applied to each dash in the line and not just the start end. We’ll have to research a code fix for this. A quick solution may be to drop the round cap style altogether if a linestyle is applied. In the mean time, if you can live with a rasterized PDF, checking on the “Rasterize output” will produce results that match the viewer exactly.

Hi Chad.

Thank you for the response and the suggestions.  Can you tell me how to drop the round end-cap style as you’ve indicated as a potential solution?  I can’t find that option anywhere.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
Sorry to mislead you. I was just explaining how we may go about fixing it in the code.

Ah - got it.  I’ll stop looking then.  grin

For now, the raster option works (as you’ve indicated) and we’ll use that as our workaround.

Thanks,
Matt
