5th Edition

If I want to insert a signature over top of the automated shop a drawing stamp that we have created - how do I go about this? I have signatures in .png format that I have scanned in - but I need to set the transparency of the background.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Dean,
You’ll need to use some sort of image editing software (like Photoshop) to set the transparency (aka alpha channel) in the PNG file. Any other readers know of any free software out there that can do this?
Another possibility is to embed the PNG file in a DWG file and insert it as a stamp. In the case of DWG stamps, we set white as the transparent color. In order for this to work well, you may have to clean up the image since only the true white color will become transparent.
Thanks,
-Chad

The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) handles PNG transparency and is available free for multiple platforms.

MS Windows - http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
Others (source code) - http://gimp.org/downloads/

GIMP does it all, but it’s difficult to learn.  I think that Paint.NET also handles this.  You can get it here: http://www.getpaint.net/

Thanks Everyone,

I suspected I would need to do something to the png files. I have Photoshop, but I appreciate the reference to the other “free” apps. I use Paint.NET @ home and love it.
