Discussion Items in Meeting Minutes

When using meeting agendas/minutes and discussion items, is there a way to show an action item’s “description” in addition to the action item’s “subject”. It does not appear to be possible.

I also have not been able to generate a report of open action items that shows the action item’s “description"s. Any ideas or is this something that has been added to version 9?

Adobe reader opening when selecting a pdf from Project Files

When I am in Project Files, if I single click on a pdf it launches adobe reader in a new window instead of displaying it in the viewer. If I close adobe reader, The newforma preview pane remains saying ‘Generating Preview…’

My Newforma Options, File Associations have pdf set to Newforma Viewer and the File Tasks menu shows ‘Open with Newforma Viewer’ in bold as the default.

How can I get it to ignore adobe reader unless I specifically select it from the tasks menu?

Thanks
Which Revit Parameters can be modified?

Hello, the help documentation is very vague as to what revit parameters may be mapped to a Newforma extended property. I know there is some logic as to which Revit parameters may be accessed but I am unclear as to what that logic is. Could someone at Newforma clear that confusion up for me? It appears that all Revit objects (I’ve tried schedules and sheets) can be linked to a Newforma Element, but many of the parameters that are associated with these objects are not accessible when trying to map them to an extended property. Why not open up all available Revit parameters? I thought Newforma was giving me a bi-directional data manipulation tool like Ideate BIMLink (which is awesome by the way) but instead we get a clumsy tool with very limited functionality. Maybe I’m trying to make it do something it wasn’t intended to do or maybe it’s just still in it’s infancy, but either way it’s not ready for the big leagues yet. Its a great concept in theory but for now I guess I’ll still be using BIMLink for data manipulation. Bummer dude…

Does anyone know if it is possible to change infoexchange status, or infoexchange permission set (on an external contact) through using the “Change Field Value” option? I think I tried this in the past and it didn’t work.

How long does it take you to launch the Newforma client? It takes me 15 seconds on a lightning fast machine, and that seems like it may be a bit slow.

Cheers,

I have been trying to send many CADD files to someone while cc’ing three other people. The three cc’d people get the e-mail with no problems, but after three tries the “main” person I am sending to said they didn’t receive 2 of them and the one they did had no link to the files. This client has been stalling and I think they are getting the e-mail but are denying it. how can I know?

Submittal Stamps and “PDF Editor…”

I am working on setting up a method for us to stamp documents. Our standard method has always been to either use a stamp, or add a sheet to the front of the submittal. With that in mind, I have the following two quetions:

1) I made the stamps in autocad, the problem with our stamps is sometimes they are to big to put on the sheet so we have to add a blank sheet to the submittal for our stamp to go on. If I go to “Tools”>“PDF Editor…”>“Insert Blank Page”, the blank page shows up. However, when I try and print or save it I get the error: “An error occurred while trying to save the file. The file might be locked, corrupt, or unavailable.”. This error only occurs when I insert a blank page, if I insert a random pdf document, it works fine. Is there a way to fix this?

2) Is there a way to insert a pdf document with fields that will auto populate in a similar way that the autoCAD stamps do?

Thank you.

Newforma and Non-standard RFI Workflows

We have a few projects in CA where Contractors, Clients or Construction Managers have their own RFI tracking systems. Some of them require us to log in to download new RFIs and upload our RFI responses. Newforma seems to handle RFIs that handled via email or InfoExchange well, but in these cases the typical workflow (receive email - file as new RFI - assign - respond via email, at which point RFI is closed) doesn’t work because of these 3rd party tools.

For example, to respond to an RFI on one of our projects, our team member creates a pdf of their response, then logs into the Client’s website and uploads the response. We then receive an email confirming that the RFI has been responded to. What would be the best way to close out this sort of RFI in Newforma?
