Just wondering if anyone had figured out if there is a way to link a Submittal and an Info Exchange file transfer (In most cases a Submittal sent to a reviewer) to where you can see if the receiver has downloaded it from the Submittals Activities Tab.

I have them set as related items already and I’ve looked but been unable to find any location that might have some way of showing this information.

Would be a great tool so we don’t have to keep bouncing back and forth between the File Transfer & Submittal Pages. Would be great if it could be put under workflow or related items. Thought maybe I could be overlooking it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning,

We have been testing the Punch list application and found that the download function only allows three projects listed at a time and it includes projects that do not have Punch-list setup for NIX in the project settings.

Doesn’t seem to be an ability to scroll for more and I’m not sure how to get the projects we need on. Am I missing something?

Since we’re limited to a list of three, I assume the only way would be to remove items from My Projects in Newforma down to below 3 in order for the project you want to appear in the list.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Thank you,
Matthias

I’m looking for insight to other experiences before I get my users too excited about newforma mobile.

I’m running it myself on iPhone/iPad.

Looks nice when you first see it. In some ways I think the traditional web interface should evolve in that direction.

The file handling related items seem to work well - transfers and infoexchange folders can deliver the files to ipad (assuming you have an app to open them with)

The email feature does not work very well - it died. the full web version worked better. Qty of email?

Also seems to have a memory leak somehwere. After I used it for a while it got very slow. Rebooting the iad fixed the problem.

Type sizes shifted around on me - icons and lables got smaller.

Site seems to stall on the ipad/phone regularly - server not responding error.

At the same time the full site web interface runs pretty smoothly on the ipad - which is big enough to use it even though some stuff is a bit fiddly. On the iphone its obviously too small. Nice to have a button to go there. Would be even nicer to have a way to get back.

it looks/feels like the mobile version is mostly a “mobilized” version of the site (ie a different presentation. But something else is going on that consumes extra resources on the site and the device. On the ipad, the main site runs more smoothly then the mobile version.

Maybe some of these issues are related to the amount of data on each project? If so then the benefit of the mobile version is limited - to me the benefit of the mobile version would be that a lot of information is accessible on a small platform.

Maybe there’s some tuning or something I need to do for infoexchange? As is I think my users would be more frustrated then happy with the current mobile product.

Any other experiences?

From the standpoint of project based file transfer Newforma works well. However, the only way for us to receive files from others is to first create a contact and assign them to a project and then ensure that they have access to the project’s info exchange site. For many projects this is fine. However there are many times, particularly for marketing efforts, when this is kind of a hassle. In these instances, sending files is not really that big of a deal, as you do not have to create a contact (you do have to have a project say “Business Development”). However, receiving files from others is the issue. We like how Thru’s service works, where you can simple have a link in your email signature to your drop box. So, just how are others using Newforma to perform this task or are they relying on another service?

I sent some files out via Info Exchange and cc’d myself and another colleague, however, we didn’t receive a copy of the email notification as we usually have done in the past.

Without waiting to see if they have downloaded the file or having to contact them, is there any way of finding or what reassurance is there that the notification was sent?
