Changing Employees Location

Our company has 2 locations, NJ and PA. When the NJ employees open Newforma, there is a drop down menu that defaults to the NJ office server. Same for PA employees.

We had an employee switch from the PA office to the NJ office, but when he opens Newforma, it is still defaulting to the PA server.

How do I update this?

We just installed Newforma and are starting to use it soon. How do you log incoming calls? Also, if someone calls and needs information from someone how do you handle it?

Default columns and timeline

The ability to save column settings in 7e is cool, but does anybody know if it’s possible to set a default column view?

On a similar note, the project timeline defaulted to calendar view in 6e. In 7e, it defaults to journal view. Anybody know if it is possible to set the default timeline view?

Project Team Reports

Is there a way to customize your project team reports to have them show by groups?
If there isn’t, is there a way to get the groups they belong to on the project team report?

Excel, open with double-click issue

I’ve noticed that sometimes Excel files fail to open with double-click from within the NPC interface.

The ‘Open with Microsoft Excel’ task link works, but double-clicking on the file produces no result whatsoever.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I haven’t had it happen since my machine was upgraded to NPC 7 and Office 2010.

Mass Renaming of Outlook Email Folders

Now that it’s possible to control the name of the Newforma Items to File email folders in Outlook, we’d like to include the project number in the folder name. It’s easy to do that for new projects, but is there a quicker way to rename our existing folders rather than going through the edit project settings interface for each individual project?

After Upgrade to 7 - Project Setting Change

After the upgrade it was brought to my attention that the resubmittal numbering setting in our projects changed from AutoLetter to AutoNumber. Has anyone experienced this?

edit- appears to be all of the submittal settings went back to defaults for all our projects.

Mobile Access

Anyone know of any plans for mobility of Newforma Project information?

I currently have a situation in which one of my users would like to take contacts out of Newforma and place them in public folders in Outlook. This is pretty much the opposite direction we would like to head.

So when I asked why, they said that they need to be able to access contacts while traveling with a handheld device. (Treo, iPhone, etc.)

I tried doing this by going through the InfoExchange but it is way too difficult to navigate with a handheld. The users won’t go for it.

Has anyone dealt with this?

Moving Projects

Moving all projects from a server disk volume to a SAN disk volume. The network share name will be the same (i.e. is \\server\share now and will be the same after the move).

Is any prep work required, or is Newforma (version 6) only concerned with the projects’ UNC?

7e project template

Has anyone using 7th ed. successfully created a project template to create a single project?

I can’t figure out what should be in the field.
