New functions, new products, new opportunities to learn

If you haven’t heard the news, we’re expanding the Newforma PIM (project information management) solution with three new products that complement the recently announced (and significantly enhanced) Eighth Edition of Newforma® Project Center. The new products – Newforma® Mobile, Newforma® Contract Management, and the Newforma® Add-in for Autodesk® Revit®, will be available in the second quarter of 2011. Read about them here. And register for Nugget2011, our first international user conference, for in-depth orientations to Newforma software in all its forms.

NEWS RELEASES

Eighth Edition: now in limited customer release

Two press releases describe new products and features currently being tested in anticipation of general release early in the second quarter of this year. The first release tells how our three new software products complement Newforma Project Center with mobile access, comprehensive contract and document change management, and integration with Revit. The second describes how Newforma Project Center has been enhanced with capabilities for document control, meeting minutes, project images, improved file sharing and remote access to project information (including from your smartphone and iPad).

New products and features: soliciting input

At the Nugget2011 user conference in Chicago on April 27, we’ll have a select group of attendees join Newforma executives for three product input sessions. We’ll discuss new products to create synergy between Newforma customers working on joint projects and to provide financial and other decision-making information in a project context. We’ll also discuss additional features of the new Add-in for Revit. (Fuller description here.) These are working sessions with strictly limited capacities. LEARN FROM PEERS

Best practices: two new stories

Two Newforma customers have published in-depth descriptions of how they’re using Newforma software to reduce risk and improve service. In AECbytes, read “Finding Discrepancies between BIM Models and Contract Documents using Newforma Project Center,” by Peter Urban of Kristine Fallon Associates. And at the website of the American Institute of Architects, read “Converting to Electronic Submittals Management,” by Chris Weatherford of Perkins+Will, and Joseph Najera of Environmental Systems Design. If you’re not yet using Newforma Project Center to find discrepancies between drawings and manage submittals, these articles may inspire you to get started.

ADD-IN FOR REVIT

The blogosphere: connecting PIM to BIM

The new Newforma Add-in for Autodesk Revit adds a toolbar to the Revit ribbon menu that provides access to key functions connecting Newforma Project Center to Autodesk® Revit® Architecture, Autodesk® Revit® Structure and Autodesk® Revit® MEP. This blog post tells you more about the Newforma Add-in for Revit.
